Privacy Policy
TrenchLine Calcs is a field estimation and reference tool for underground utility and construction work. This policy explains what information the app handles — and, more to the point, how little of it ever leaves your device.
01 The short version
The app stores your settings and your calculation history locally in your browser, on your device. That data is never transmitted to us and we cannot see it. We do not run analytics, we do not show ads, we do not sell data, and the app does not require an account. The only information that leaves your device is the routine technical data any website generates when your browser requests it (covered in Section 4).
02 What we collect — at a glance
| Information | Collected by us? | Where it lives | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| App settings (theme, startup screen, footer layout, thrust/fitting defaults, category order) | On device only | Your browser (localStorage) | Remember your preferences between sessions |
| Calculation history, saved jobs & project notes | On device only | Your browser (localStorage) | Let you revisit recent calculations |
| Name, email, account, or login | Not collected | — | No accounts exist in this version |
| Location / GPS | Not collected | — | The app does not request location |
| Analytics / usage tracking | Not collected | — | No analytics or tracking SDKs are present |
| Advertising identifiers | Not collected | — | No advertising in this version |
03 Data stored on your device
To make the app usable without an account, your preferences and recent calculations are saved in your browser's local storage (localStorage). This data stays on your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and we have no way to access it.
You stay in control of it:
- Clearing your browser's site data for this app removes it.
- Uninstalling the app (or the installed web app) removes it.
- Using a private/incognito session keeps it from persisting.
04 Information handled when you use the app
Like any website, the app relies on a small number of technical services to load and run. These services may receive standard request data — most commonly your IP address — as a normal part of delivering content:
- Hosting & security (Cloudflare). The app is served through Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes routine server and network logs (such as IP address and request metadata) to deliver the app and protect it against abuse. During the current beta, access is additionally gated by Cloudflare Access, which verifies an authorized email address before granting entry.
- Support email. If you email [email protected], your message is delivered to us through Cloudflare Email Routing and forwarded to a Gmail inbox. We use the contents only to respond to you.
05 What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent, or trade your information.
- We don't use advertising or third-party tracking in this version.
- We don't build profiles or run behavioral analytics.
- We don't require you to create an account to use the calculators.
- We don't load fonts, scripts, or content from third-party servers — everything the app needs is served from our own site.
06 Children's privacy
TrenchLine Calcs is a professional tool intended for construction and utility-trade users. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
07 Your choices and rights
Because the app keeps your data on your own device and we don't maintain personal records about you, most data requests are something you can act on directly by clearing the app's local data. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/EEA/UK) or the CCPA/CPRA (California) to access, correct, or delete personal information a business holds about you. Since we don't collect or store such information server-side in this version, there is generally nothing for us to retrieve or erase — but if you have a question or request, contact us and we'll respond.
08 Future features
Heads up as the product grows. Planned future versions may add optional accounts, paid subscriptions, payment processing, and (on a free tier) advertising. Any of these would introduce new data handling. We will update this policy and post a new effective date before those features go live, so the policy you're reading always reflects the version you're using.
09 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the effective date above. Material changes will be reflected here on this page.
